The White House has announced, that the US will distribute up to 60M doses of AstraZeneca vaccine to other countries as they become possible.
The vaccine will be ready to be shipped in the upcoming months after a central safety review. The US has a large number of vaccine stock even though its governors have not yet approved it for public use. Authorities have blamed the government for acquiring the vaccine, while other countries are in extreme need.
Earlier this month President Joe Biden vouched to distribute about 4 million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine with Canada and Mexico.
The disaster in India has also stacked pressure on the Biden strategy to share US health support.
The White House announced on Monday, it assumed that about 10 million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine could be delivered when FDA ‘Food and Drug Administration’ concludes its investigation in the coming weeks.
It announced that another 50 million doses were in several steps of production.
The US has previously declared that it will contribute raw materials for Indian vaccine producers as the country fights an overwhelming rush in cases.
On a phone call with Indian PM Narendra Modi on Monday, President Biden declared more emergency support “including oxygen associated supplies, vaccine materials, and therapeutics“, a White House remark declared.
The FDA has so far authorized 4 vaccines against Covid- 19 – BioNTech, Pfizer, Moderna, and Johnson & Johnson. Authorities say it seems possible that these will accommodate all the country’s needs and the AstraZeneca may not be necessitated.
